Feed options
Configure how Eihei’s main feed presents post cards, including featured image orientation, excerpt visibility, the special styling for featured posts, and the optional Spotlight section. These settings affect feed presentation only and are separate from post header templates.
Image orientation in the feed- To change the feed image orientation, go to the 'Design & branding' settings in the Ghost Admin.
- Open the 'Theme' tab and go to the 'Site-wide' section, then find the 'Feed images orientation' position.
- Choose an option from the dropdown menu.
- Click 'Save' to activate.
You can hide excerpts for feed cards that include a featured image when you want a cleaner, more visual archive. Posts without featured images still show a description so text-only cards keep enough context for readers.
- To hide the excerpt for posts in the feed, go to the 'Design & branding' settings in the Ghost Admin.
- Open the 'Theme' tab and go to the 'Site-wide' section, then find the 'Show excerpt in feed' position.
- Use the toggle switch.
- Click 'Save' to activate.
Featured posts can receive a stronger visual treatment in the feed so they stand apart from regular entries. Disable this option if you want featured posts to keep the same card style as the rest of the feed.
- To disable the style of featured posts in the feed, go to the 'Design & branding' settings in the Ghost Admin.
- Open the 'Theme' tab and go to the 'Site-wide' section, then find the 'Featured style in feed' position.
- Use the toggle switch.
- Click 'Save' to activate.
The Spotlight section adds a related-post block based on the primary tag of the first post in the feed. Disable it if you prefer a simpler feed rhythm where posts always appear as regular cards.
- To disable the spotlight section in the feed, go to the 'Design & branding' settings in the Ghost Admin.
- Open the 'Theme' tab and go to the 'Site-wide' section, then find the 'Spotlight section in feed' position.
