Homepage post previews
Show Ghost Preview card content directly in homepage feed posts. This lets selected articles reveal a shaped passage on the homepage before readers open the full post.
Preview cards work best when kept simple — text and cards like Image and Header always display correctly in the feed. Cards that depend on external JavaScript, such as embeds from other providers, or advanced Ghost cards like Gallery and Signup, may not always render as expected, since new posts are added to the feed without a full page reload.Step 1: Enable homepage post previews
- Go to the 'Design & branding' settings in the Ghost Admin.
- Open the 'Theme' tab and go to the 'Homepage' section, then find the 'Post preview' position.
- Choose 'First post' or 'All posts' from the dropdown menu.
- Click 'Save' to activate.
None – keeps the regular homepage feed cards without showing Preview card content.
First post – shows Preview card content only in the first homepage feed post, which works well when the lead story should feel more editorial. If the first post does not include a Preview card, the theme shows no preview content for it.
All posts – shows Preview card content for every homepage feed post that includes a Preview card. Posts without a Preview card show no preview content.
Step 2: Add a Preview card to posts- Open a post in the Ghost editor.
- Add a Preview card after the content that should appear on the homepage.
- Edit the text, cards, or formatting before it to shape the visible preview.
- Click 'Update' to save the post.
